Folks,
I have come across a partial set of sherman sandbag armor in resin. I have the hull sides but not the front.
Sandbags are easy to make from epoxy putty, but I'm wondering how the sherman crews set them up on the front glacis? Was there a metal frame to hold them in, or were they just stacked and held in place by gravity?

Yes, they were stacked on the rack added to the transmission housing between the fenders and layered on the front glacis. Eduard set 28061

I made a set of sand bags for the front of a M10, with magicsculpt, just piled them onto each other, but also laid them like bricks to interlocking

Just curious. If they were stacked on the glacis and not retained, did they go flying off when the driver hit the breaks?

Must admit I don't know, id guess the weight of the sand bags (there are heavy when wet, and the way they sit around things like lights etc interlocking them to the tank, Id guess they would be reasonably stable
