Hello and welcome to the 48 Armor forum.
The purpose of this forum is to create an international home space for builders of 1/48 AFVs and softskins. I hope this forum can become a nexus for the sharing of ideas, techniques, and the beautiful results of our projects. Though there are other great forums already addressing this topic, the web is a large space, and another site will only augment those already in existence. Quarter scale armor may never be as popular as the other scales, but a modern forum may help it attract more attention.
This forum uses a more modern interface than that seen at other 48th scale forum sites. This has several advantages. First and foremost, discussions threads which have had recent responses will be "at the head" of the thread list and will not need to be hunted down. If you reply to a thread that is several days or weeks old, the thread will be brought to the front of the list. No longer will your response go un-noticed becuse it is 20 pages deep into a thread tree.
If you find yourself needing to hunt an old topic down, the forum has a search function which can be used to querry all topics..
Finally, to facilitate ease of navigation, the discssions are organized into several easy to search broad topics.. If you wish to discuss the history of the sherman tank for example, you might post it to the research subforum. If instead you want to show off the sherman kit you're currently building, you would start a work-in-progress thread in the workbenches subcategory. And once that work of art is complete, you are encouraged to post pictures of it in the gallery subforum. There are also discussion pages set up for non-1/48 AFV modeling; because we all stray sometimes.
Once user levels grow enough, I hope to have things like group builds, shared builds, and contests.
This forum is a work in progress. If you have a suggestion on how to improve it, please feel free to leave a comment.
If you wish to assist in forum moderation contact me via a personal message (just click the button below my avatar.
And one last thing: don't let all the buttons frighten you off.
If you have questions on how to do something on this forum, feel free to post them in the Q & A section of the forum.
Welcome again, and please enjoy your time on the forum.
Sincerely,
The Forum Moderator Team
