lol jim i guess mogdog and i are the dorks of the group ;P nothing wrong with that it was just interesting for me to hear someone else enjoys the hobby in nearly the exact same way i thought i was the only one aah if you enjoy quiet at yer modeling desk than the brush painting is definitely the way to go and no set up or breakdown or cleaning of equipment! i use model master paints and they work great also another added benefit to using the brushes is you can get some great color mixes i have a couple throw away plastic cups of water that i dip the brush in to get it wet then use the edge of the inside of as a mixing pallet very simple and nice and quiet heres a couple pics of my latest project

rofl Kyle. I'm starting to suspect you and mogdog THE group. Seems pretty dead here.
Very nice work there, on the build. I'm going to start messing with practicing some brush painting on some sheet styrene I have, I have a few bottles of MM paint, from my model RR projects, that I can fool around with.
I'm making a list of the vehicles I would like to acquire, then will see if they have been done in 1/48, and then, if so, just how hard it will be to get my hands on them. Fingers crossed.
Jim

yes kinda quiet on the 48th front maybe everybody is too busy modeling ;P thx for the compliment just wanted to share that you can get a pretty nice look with brushes vs an airbrush maybe im just trying to justify it because i dont want to get an airbrush lol a quick couple of tips ive learned i can share have a cup of water and paper towel dunk the brush in the water pat it a bit on the towel dip it in the paint then brush it around on the side of the cup to mix it into the bristles and paint away can dip it in the water a bit more to thin to desire i also find that synthetic bristles tend to work a bit better than real hair ones im certainly no expert but this technique seems to work pretty good im always open for tips if you find a better way oh and if yer into ww2 i think 1/48 should have most of what you would want you may have to look at a few different websites to find selection if you compile a list id certainly let ya know if ive seen it in 1/48

Thanks Kyle, it is nice to know there is another 1 48 scale armor modeler out there like me. Is that SDKFZ a Tamiya with Bandai pak40? It is a beauty! I just finished my 2 1/2 ton GNC fuel truck and started a Willys MB. Have you seen the Tamiya Humber armored car yet, looks like my British recon unit will be getting some re enforcement in Jan. Nice to see a new kit from Tamiya. Now if only someone would do an interior detail kit so I can appease my Bandai addiction. I dream of the day I can get a 3 printer that does interiors. Keep calm and 1/48 armor on.

Hey Kyle, Mogdog and Carol (That seems to cover everyone still here lol) I haven't checked much, been busy, and I'm still sort of undecided on scale. I am leaning towards 1/76 for one diorama I want to do, pre D-Day setting, somewhere in England. Although in resin as opposed to plastic, the range of vehicles for my needs is pretty complete from just one mfr. Using 1/76 allows inclusion of something railway-ish. Another part of the appeal is that there are a number of both Brit and US figures that are NOT in combat poses, but much more casual, 'taking a break' type poses. Are there similar in 1/48? I have not spent a lot of time yet, searching out what is available in 1/48, but hope to over the next few days. Need various and sundry appropriate vehicles for UK Recce units and US Cav. recon units. If Tamiya is coming out with a Humber AC in 1/48, that will be a definite buy. For the record, if I were just into building kits, US, UK, Ger., Soviet, then yes, 1/48 would keep me fully occupied. It's wanting things for more focused ideas that limits me. Finally, Merry Christmas, and or Happy Holidays, to all Jim F
